Preschooler Activities Ideas And Options

If you have a preschooler at home, it can be hard to keep them occupied all day long. You may want to have some preschooler activities line up so you have something prepared for that cold or rainy day when you are stuck inside. There are plenty of fun arts and crafts you and your preschooler can do together in order to make an empty day full with fun.

Take a paper plate or construction paper and let your child trace their hand. Then cut the hand shape out of the paper or plate and let your child color it. They can make it look like a turkey, color it like a rainbow, or any other way they would like. It might be fun to remember this craft in later years. You could collect your child's hand print creations for many different years.

Get out some old magazines and some construction paper. Let your child search through the magazine and cut out pictures they like. The pictures could be people, food items, animals, or whatever they find attractive. Help them glue the pictures onto the construction paper and then decorate around them. They could add their name, some pictures, stickers, or whatever else you have handy. Once the paper is dry, flip it over and do the other side. When they are both well filled, cover them with laminate paper and you can use it as a place mat. On a really long day, your preschooler can make a mat for everyone in the family, or as gifts for friends or relatives.

If you have an empty gallon milk jug, turn it on its side with the handle at the top. Let your preschooler draw a mouth at the base and cut the middle out. Then, let them use markers to ad eyes, fins, and other characteristics. When the creature is complete, she can take it into the bathtub with her for some added bath time fun.

Create a new game with your preschooler using those mysterious unmatched socks. Take out some old socks that are either too worn or do not have a partner any longer. Make sure they have no holes and fill them with dried beans or rice. Tie the end of the sock in a knot, or add a fancy bow. You have just created a sock sack. Repeat the process until you have three or more sock sacks. Then, get out a coffee can, waste basket, laundry basket, or some other similar item and take turns tossing the socks into the containers. They make a fun noise when they land and your preschooler will be thrilled to have a new game to play.

If you have some envelopes handy, let your preschooler draw faces on the backs of them. They will have fun coloring on something different, and you can use the envelopes to send cards to family and friends as birthdays roll around. Your preschooler will enjoy knowing his creations went out in the mailbox.

There are plenty of preschooler activities when it comes to arts and crafts. If you run into a rainy day, use a little imagination and creativity and you can pass the time easily.

Hi! My name is Angela, creator of the Preschooler Activities website. I have 2 children and I started teaching preschool kids and collecting preschool activities material about 10 years ago.

I find many teachers and parents who are passionate about teaching their preschool children. The only problem was that most of these teachers and parents were tired and didn't feel they had enough time to create effective preschool activities and lesson plans for their students and children.

I would like to share my collection and compilation of my preschool activities, lesson plans, worksheets, and articles through my Preschooler Activities Website.
